Little Troyer Farm
In March 2022, we tied some pallets together and brought our first goats home. Little did I know that it was the start of my passion for goats. Originally, we purchased a few so that we could have goat's milk for ourselves. Our oldest child suffered from extreme sensitivity to conventional dairy products, and we got hooked on fresh, raw dairy from our own goats. Over 2.5 years later, I have learned a LOT through challenging situations and lack of quality animals in my area. It became obvious to me that "not all goats were equal", both in quality of milk and overall quality of the animal.
As of August 2024, I have a completely health tested herd, with negative results for both CAE and Johnes. My commitment is to only purchase from reputable breeders who have the same vision and goal that I do. To produce well-rounded dairy goats that are superior in overall health, conformation, and milk production. Temperament is worth noting here, because you could have the 'perfect goat', but absolutely despise them because they are less than pleasant to handle.
After many months of discussion, in March 2025, we decided to sell the rest of our Nigerian Dwarves. Our goal moving forward is to raise registered Nubian goats. Our hope is that they will be quality breeding stock as well as wonderful milk producers, scoring well during shows, as well as hopefully earning milk stars!
2025 resulted in 16 kids, with 12 of them being BUCKLINGS. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to bring in 3 doelings and 1 buckling from BNH Livestock this spring. With hard cuts, we are down to 4 'mature' does ages 2+. No one said that breeding goats was easy...but we are ready for the long journey and investment that it is!!!
